Foraging Class

Dates July 15 from 6pm – 8pm or July 28th from 6pm – 8pm

This course is designed for the beginning forager. We will teach you how to use tools like books, apps, forums, and websites so that you can safely identify wild plants.

Description

You start in an outdoor classroom, where we will focus on identification using foraged specimens and a variety of resources. The course ends with a nature walk on our property (maybe as much as 1/2 mile) where you will test your learning by identifying various seasonal plants from provided worksheets. A small workbook and worksheets are included with this course. We will have foraging kits available for purchase that include tools and books and are a great starting point. These kits range in price from $50 – $100 and most materials are sourced locally and in limited supply. Let us know if you would like to prepay for a kit so that you can use it during the class. Space is limited to 20 people for this course with no more than 2 children under 12 for each adult. This is both for your safety and the children’s. Remember that while you are taking this course, you should not eat anything without first checking with your instructor.

If weather forces us to cancel the course, you will receive a store credit and we will give you the first choice on the next scheduled dates.
